Chairman Calvin Johnson

My Story

Calvin Johnson, is an experienced value-driven leader and currently is the Chairman of the Tonto Apache Tribe, a federally recognized tribe located in Central Arizona.  Calvin has served the Tribe as an elected official since 1986, and has played an instrumental role in the tribe's goal of economic diversity in its business portfolio.

With Calvin's strategic business leadership, the tribe increased its economic self-reliance through e-commerce, gaming, and other economic opportunities both in and outside of the Tribe's jurisdiction.  Calvin Regularly speaks on leadership and business development at tribal conferences and is a consultant to tribes beginning the economic diversification process.

Calvin Attended and graduated with a degree in Hospitality and Restaurant Management from the prestigious Scottsdale "Le Cordon Blu" College of Culinary Arts.

Prior to being elected as Chairman of the Tribe, Calvin built and managed three Tribal casinos across the country, acted as a gaming consultant to other tribes, and served as the Director of Gaming for 10 years at the Mazatzal Casino.
